Cosmetic dentistry treatments
Cosmetic dentistry treatments designed to improve tooth shape, colour, proportion and smile harmony through individual assessment and treatment tailored to each case.
WHAT ARE COSMETIC DENTISTRY TREATMENTS?
Cosmetic dentistry treatments include different options designed to improve the appearance of the smile by addressing concerns with colour, shape, size, proportion, symmetry or minor dental irregularities.
Cosmetic dentistry is not simply about “looking better”. For many patients, it may also involve restoring worn teeth, improving visible restorations, balancing the smile with the gums and lips, or planning a more natural and proportionate result.
Cosmetic dentistry may include treatments such as teeth whitening, composite veneers, porcelain or lithium disilicate veneers, smile design and, in selected cases, complementary treatment to improve tooth position, the bite or the gum contour.
At Face Clinic, we approach cosmetic dentistry from a clinical perspective, not simply a cosmetic one. Before recommending treatment, we assess the teeth, gums, oral function, bite and the patient’s realistic expectations in order to propose a proportionate, clinically appropriate plan.
WHEN TO CONSIDER COSMETIC DENTISTRY
Some patients seek treatment for a purely cosmetic reason, while others also have tooth wear, visible older restorations or changes that affect smile harmony. In either situation, a professional assessment helps determine which treatment, if any, is genuinely indicated.
When tooth colour has changed over time or staining affects the appearance of the smile.
Bruxism, ageing or certain habits can shorten, wear down or crack the front teeth.
Teeth that are too small, uneven or have contours that disrupt the overall balance of the smile.
Small gaps between teeth, minor alignment discrepancies or visible differences in tooth proportions.
Older, darkened or poorly integrated restorations that make the smile look less natural.
When the teeth, gums, lips and facial features do not appear naturally balanced in relation to one another.
WHAT COSMETIC DENTISTRY INCLUDES AT FACE CLINIC
Cosmetic dentistry is not a single treatment, but an area of dentistry that can include different options depending on the concern to be addressed, oral health and the individual characteristics of each patient.
In some cases, teeth whitening may be enough. In others, dental veneers, orthodontics or more comprehensive smile design may be appropriate. Aesthetic restorations, gum treatment, prosthodontics or dental implants may also form part of the plan when there are additional functional needs or missing teeth.
Treatment is recommended only after assessing the teeth and gums, bite, tooth position, wear, previous restorations, any missing teeth and the result the patient is seeking.
Teeth whitening
Treatment designed to lighten tooth shade and improve smile brightness when there is discolouration or staining.

When tooth position, crowding, gaps or the bite affect smile aesthetics, orthodontics may form part of the aesthetic and functional treatment plan.

Comprehensive aesthetic and functional planning to assess the smile and define which treatments may be required and in what sequence they should be carried out.

Before cosmetic dental treatment, it is important to assess the smile as a whole. The aim is not only to improve appearance, but to achieve a proportionate, natural-looking result that is consistent with the patient’s oral health.
At the first appointment, we assess colour, shape, position, proportions, tooth wear, previous restorations, gums, the smile and the patient’s expectations.
Before planning an aesthetic improvement, we check that the proposed option is compatible with dental health, oral function and the bite.
Depending on the case, treatment may include teeth whitening, composite veneers, porcelain or lithium disilicate veneers, smile design or other complementary procedures.
Treatment follows the agreed plan, aiming for a natural-looking result and avoiding standardised or unnecessarily invasive approaches.
After treatment, we review progress, answer questions and provide maintenance guidance to help preserve both the aesthetic result and oral health over time.

BENEFITS OF COSMETIC DENTISTRY
When appropriately indicated and carefully planned, cosmetic dentistry may improve not only the appearance of the smile, but also its balance, naturalness and relationship with the rest of the mouth and face.
Improving colour, shape or symmetry may help patients feel more comfortable and confident when speaking or smiling.
It can balance the teeth, gums and proportions to create a more natural and proportionate result.
It may help improve shape irregularities, gaps, chipped edges, tooth wear or visible restorations.
Careful planning helps avoid an artificial-looking smile and aims for a result that suits the patient’s face and expression.
Not every patient needs the same treatment: cosmetic dentistry allows the plan to be tailored to the specific needs of each smile.
With appropriate clinical judgement, aesthetic improvements can be planned alongside oral function, the bite and preservation of healthy tissues.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT COSMETIC DENTISTRY
We answer some of the questions patients commonly ask before starting cosmetic dental treatment at Face Clinic. Treatment recommendations and costs are always established individually after assessment.
What happens at the first cosmetic dentistry appointment at Face Clinic?
At the first appointment, we assess your smile as a whole: colour, shape, proportions, tooth wear, previous restorations, gums, bite and expectations. We then explain which treatments may be appropriate and whether they should be carried out alone or in combination.
Does cosmetic dentistry always mean having veneers?
No. For some patients, teeth whitening, a small aesthetic restoration or even orthodontic treatment beforehand may be more appropriate. Veneers are only one option within cosmetic dentistry, not a universal solution.
What can cosmetic dentistry improve?
It may help improve concerns with colour, shape, size, worn edges, small gaps, asymmetry, visible restorations or an unbalanced smile. The most appropriate option depends on the condition of the teeth and the actual treatment objective.
Which specialist carries out these treatments?
Cosmetic dental treatments are carried out by dentists with experience in aesthetic and restorative dentistry and oral rehabilitation. When required, treatment may also be coordinated with orthodontics, periodontics or oral and maxillofacial surgery.
Can the smile be improved without preparing the teeth?
In some cases, yes. Conservative options such as teeth whitening or certain composite veneer treatments may allow aesthetic improvement without tooth preparation or with minimal preparation. However, every case is different and the indication must be assessed individually.
How much does cosmetic dentistry cost at Face Clinic?
The cost depends on the type of treatment and the number of teeth involved. As a general guide in private dentistry, teeth whitening may cost approximately €250–€500; composite veneers, around €180–€350 per tooth; and porcelain or lithium disilicate veneers, approximately €450–€900 per tooth. For more extensive treatment, such as full smile design, the cost depends on the combination of procedures, the number of teeth involved and case complexity. At Face Clinic, we always provide a personalised quotation after assessment.
How long do the results last?
This depends on the treatment, the patient’s habits and ongoing maintenance. Teeth whitening may require top-up treatment over time, while veneers or aesthetic restorations require reviews and care to maintain their stability and appearance.
Can I request an assessment if I am not sure which treatment I need?
Yes. In fact, this is usually the best approach. Many patients know what they would like to improve but not which treatment is most appropriate. During the assessment, we review your case and guide you towards the option that makes the most sense clinically and aesthetically.
