What are facial implants?

Facial implants or facial prostheses are solid, biocompatible components placed in specific areas of the face to enhance its structure and balance.
They are used in both aesthetic and reconstructive treatments, helping to achieve a natural and well-proportioned facial harmony.

Thanks to 3D technology, each implant is individually designed to fit perfectly with the patient’s anatomy and aesthetic needs.

If you are considering a personalised facial implant or facial prosthesis treatment, request a consultation at Face Clinic.
Our medical team will analyse your case using advanced 3D planning technology to offer the most suitable solution.

Types and indications of facial implants

At Face Clinic, we perform different types of facial implants depending on each patient’s individual needs.

They are used both for reconstructive purposes —following trauma or previous surgery— and to enhance facial harmony in patients without any prior condition.

    • Chin implants: increase facial projection and balance, defining the profile.
    • Cheek implants: enhance the midface area and rejuvenate facial expression.
    • Jaw implants: define and strengthen the jawline, providing structure and firmness.
    • Forehead implants: correct flat or sunken foreheads for natural, balanced results.
    • Infraorbital implants: restore volume under the eyes and reduce the appearance of tired or hollow eyes.
    • Nasolabial implants: soften deep folds between the nose and mouth.
    • Full matrix: a combination of several implants (cheeks, chin and jawline) to achieve overall facial harmony.
    • Other options: design of custom-made facial implants for specific areas such as the forehead, nasal bridge or nasolabial folds.

Some images of custom facial implants in digital design and 3D physical models, showing the precision and anatomical adaptation achieved at Face Clinic.

At Face Clinic, we work with two main types of materials: customised 3D implants made of Titanium and PEEK —strong, biocompatible and long-lasting—, and silicone implants, which are lighter and more flexible.
However, we prefer 3D customised implants due to their precise anatomical fit and long-term stability.

In this video, Dr Riba explains the process of designing customised facial implants, from digital 3D planning to the creation of models precisely adapted to each patient’s anatomy.

A clear example of the precision and personalisation that define the work carried out at Face Clinic.

What is the procedure for placing facial implants?

The placement of facial implants is a minor surgical procedure performed in our own operating theatre under local anaesthesia with sedation.

The procedure usually takes around 1 to 2 hours and does not require hospital admission.

Depending on the type of implant, the incisions are made either inside the mouth or in very discreet external areas, meaning that no visible scars remain.

The results are immediate, and recovery is typically complete within 1 to 2 weeks.

    What our patients say

    Elisiane Braganca

Six months ago, I underwent a buccal fat removal (bichectomy), a chin implant (titanium prosthesis) and a TMJ infiltration with Dr Riba, and I couldn’t be happier with the results.
I went to his clinic because of a slight facial asymmetry that bothered me, and I had always had rather full cheeks despite being slim.
Now my face looks much more balanced and harmonious.
I consulted several doctors before choosing Dr Riba, and I have absolutely no regrets — from the very first moment I felt completely at ease, and I wouldn’t hesitate to trust him again.
Thank you, Doctor, and the entire Face Clinic team — I truly felt at home.

    Natalia H.

I absolutely love this clinic and Dr Riba’s entire team.
My case is quite a complex one, and he has taken the time and care to create a custom chin prosthesis design for reconstruction based on a computer-generated image of my original chin — essentially aiming to restore it as closely as possible.
It’s simply a brilliant piece of planning and precision work.
I haven’t yet undergone the surgery, but once I do, I’ll share the results.
So far, my experience, the care and the professionalism have all been outstanding.
I couldn’t recommend Face Clinic more highly.

    Hind Betioui

I’m absolutely delighted with the results — I had chin surgery and I look like a different person!
Everything went perfectly. All the staff were incredibly kind, but my greatest thanks go to Dr Riba, who is a truly outstanding specialist, and to Ana, who is just wonderful.

Price and financing options for facial implants

The price of facial implants varies depending on the type of prosthesis and the areas to be treated.

In many cases, this procedure is combined with other aesthetic medicine treatments, such as facial fillers, or with facial cosmetic surgery procedures. For this reason, a personalised assessment is always recommended.

    FAQs

What materials are they made from?

We use solid silicone, PEEK, titanium or porous polyethylene — all of them biocompatible and safe.

    Are the results permanent?

Yes. Facial implants are stable and long-lasting, although the natural ageing process may gradually alter the surrounding tissues over time.

Can they be removed or modified?

Yes. If necessary, the implants can be easily removed or replaced through a minor outpatient procedure.

How do I know which type of implant I need?

The maxillofacial surgeon will assess your anatomy, aesthetic goals and facial proportions to recommend the most suitable option.
At Face Clinic, we carry out a personalised 3D assessment using advanced planning technology.
